What the suit means
In traditional tarot, the Suit of Cups corresponds to the element of water. Its cards describe the emotional life: relationships and their seasons, empathy, creativity of the heart, healing and spiritual connection. They surface wherever feelings shape the situation more than facts.
The suit travels from the overflowing heart of the Ace through celebration, loss and choice in the middle cards to the lasting emotional fulfilment of the Ten. Together they chart how we open to others — and to ourselves.

Reversed energy
Reversed, Cups speak of emotions out of balance: suppressed feelings, emotional exhaustion, codependency, illusions or a heart guarded too tightly. The water has not vanished; it asks to move freely again.
